The falls are reached by a short woodland path from the roadside car park north of the bridge. The route follows the rim of a steep-sided gorge carved by the River Isla, where harder volcanic rock gives way to softer sandstone. This contrast has helped the river cut the dramatic channel seen today.
Reekie Linn is especially impressive when the river is in spate, but wet weather also makes the path and exposed edges more hazardous. The viewing route is brief rather than strenuous, yet it demands steady footing and close attention throughout.
A small dedicated parking area sits immediately north of Bridge of Craigisla beside the B954, with picnic tables and an information board. Spaces are limited; park only in marked or clearly permitted areas and check current signs on arrival.
The waterfall is no more than a five-minute walk from the parking area. The woodland path is short, but the ground can be uneven, muddy or slippery and it runs close to an unprotected gorge edge.
Moderate despite the short distance. The physical effort is low, but the narrow woodland path, uneven footing and sheer, largely unprotected drops require care and confidence near heights.
The walk is short, but it is not suitable for pushchairs and may be unsuitable for very young children. Keep children within arm’s reach and dogs under close control because the gorge edge is steep and often unfenced.

• Reekie Linn is formed by two linked waterfalls on the River Isla.
• In high water, the separate drops can appear to combine into one powerful torrent.
• “Reekie” refers to the smoke-like spray that can rise from the gorge.
• The river has carved a deep gorge where harder rock transitions into softer sandstone.
Visit after rain for the most dramatic flow, but expect wetter and more slippery conditions. Stay well back from the gorge edge, wear footwear with good grip, keep dogs under close control, and do not enter the river or attempt to reach the base of the falls. There are picnic tables by the parking area, but facilities are limited.
